Role Overview: The purpose of the Shift Supervisor is to ensure the security officers under their command effectively uphold a safe and secure environment, maintain communication with staff to minimize crisis situations, and operate in full compliance with the established post orders. The Shift Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the client site, maintaining a calm and controlled environment, and supporting the officers under their command while effectively managing any staffing issues that arise.

- Maintain clear and open communication with the Client Supervisor, ensuring security measures align with the care plan.
- Regularly update the Shift Security Supervisor and other relevant personnel on any incidents, changes in status, or other critical information.
- Conduct regular training sessions for officers on recognizing and managing potential elopements, crisis intervention, and any updates to post orders.

- Manage any personnel issues within the team, addressing any concerns or disciplinary matters as needed.
- Monitor Attendance: Maintain a log of officer attendance and monitor patterns of absenteeism.
- Book-Off Reporting: Establish a clear protocol for officers to report book-offs, including a minimum notice period, if possible. Officers should report their inability to work directly to the Shift Supervisor, who will log the absence and initiate coverage procedures.
- Immediate Action: Upon receiving a book-off notification, the Shift Supervisor should immediately assess the impact on staffing levels and prioritize filling the vacancy to maintain coverage.
- Contact Relief Officers: Maintain an updated list of relief or on-call officers who can be contacted to fill in for the booked-off officer. Begin contacting these officers based on availability and proximity to the site.
- Reassigning Duties: If a relief officer is not immediately available, temporarily reassign duties among the existing team to ensure critical areas are covered until a replacement arrives.

- Document the Process: Record all actions taken to fill the vacancy, including calls made to relief officers and any changes to the shift structure.
- Follow-Up: After the shift, review the impact of the book-off on operations and document any issues encountered. If the book-off was unplanned or a result of recurring absenteeism, follow up with the absent officer according to company policy.
