SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe technician is responsible to perform preparatory lab work in support of Raw Materials, In-Process, Finished Products, Stability and Microbiological testing within QC. This may include but not limited to facilitating all activities related to routine testing that require set-up or cleaning and all non testing activities that are required to provide QC service to other departments, in a manner consistent with established standards. This position is also responsible for simple ancillary tests, calibrations and maintenance of test tools and equipment and other housekeeping activities.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry or related field is helpful.
Minimum education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent.
Individuals with experience in a cGMP laboratory environment with good communication and reasoning skills are preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUp to 25% // Calibrations/ Standardizations/ Preparatory Set Up
Perform calibrations of instrument such as balances, pH meters and IR as required by Patheon Work Instructions.
Performs standardizations of volumetric/titrimetric solutions, and prepares dissolution media and HPLC mobile phase, among other solutions including microbiological solutions.
Prepare media, collect purified water for testing and use the Autoclave for waste disposal.

Up to 50% // Testing:Perform simple ancillary tests for raw materials, in-process, finished products, stability and water samples including, but not limited to description, identifications, Karl Fischer, Loss on Drying, Residue on Ignition and other simple wet chemistry tests (such as sulfates, heavy metals, arsenic and water analysis) as assigned by the supervisor.
Up to 10% // Housekeeping: Clean and organize all laboratory areas including bench, sinks, drawers, cabinets, solvent cabinets, fume hoods, refrigerators, freezers, desiccators and storage areas.
Up to 15% // Training and DevelopmentParticipate in ongoing training for the development of skills and responsibility with an emphasis on technology.
