This is a one-year contract.Responsibilities
Assists with severe weather preparations and evacuation, rigging emergency power and emergency generator testing
Installs temporary power for campus special events and contractors. Tests electrical equipment for safety and accuracy
Performs installation, maintenance, inspections, modifications, and repair of building and equipment, electrical systems and components rated up to 600 volts
Performs work in accordance with established safety procedures, maintains a clean and safe work environment
Plans, lays out, and installs wiring, components, and equipment for new construction and renovations in conformance with design drawings, specifications, and compliance with published codes
Responds to service calls; troubleshoots systems, circuits, controls, panels and switchgears, and takes corrective action
Traces circuits and tests continuity of electrical and electronic circuits for installed equipment utilizing ammeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter, as-built drawings, and visual inspections

Required Qualifications
High school graduation or GED.
Five years of experience as a journeyman electrician.
Must be able to work independently as well as a team player. Must have excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Three years of experience as a journeyman in a construction facility maintenance trade related to the posted job functions.
Associate degree or graduation from technical or vocational trade school. Knowledge of digital control systems

Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).Salary Range$55,000 + depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsExposure to construction hazards including extreme temperatures, electrical shock, dust, noise, heights, fumes, and adverse weather conditions. Climb and work from ladders and scaffolds.
