Independently identify and coordinate care for patients requiring admission/transfer; confidently role model proficiency in nursing skills needed during the admission process; coordinate immediate patient care needs and organize so patient’s needs are met to expedite admission.


Role model proficiency and completeness of documentation; may initiate/complete data base, admit patient to inpatient unit, orient patient and family to unit and report off to unit RN accepting patient.


Role model organizational and prioritization skills necessary to complete admission within acceptable time frame to include perform role of Bed Control Nurse, as needed (not applicable for SCU admission nurse).


Verify with patient/family the effects of care and make changes in plan as needed.


Analyze admission process and identify potential barriers.

Reinforce with patient/family plan for admission and initiate/complete data base and needs assessment when necessary to keep admission process flowing.


Ensure all interventions are communicated and plan is in place for any follow-up required.
