Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the payroll process for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Supervise payroll staff and monitor their daily tasks.
  • Ensure payroll complies with federal, state, and local laws, including tax filings, wage and hour laws, and other legal requirements.
  • Stay updated with changes in payroll-related regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
  • Oversee the payroll software and systems used by the organization.
  • Work with the IT and HR teams to ensure system integrations and upgrades are seamless.
  • Prepare payroll budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide financial and management reports related to payroll, including tax summaries, benefits costs, and other compensation-related data.
  • Address payroll discrepancies or issues raised by employees.
  • Handle escalated concerns regarding pay, tax, benefits deductions, and other payroll-related matters.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to integrate payroll with other HR functions, such as benefits and compensation.
  • Partner with finance teams to ensure payroll expenses align with budgets and forecasts.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in payroll management, often 7-10 years, with several years in a leadership role.
  • Professional certifications like Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) are highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, Workday, Oracle HCM, etc.) and relevant software.
  • Ensures accuracy in payroll calculations and reporting.
  • Experience managing teams and leading payroll operations.
  • Deep understanding of payroll-related laws, including tax regulations and wage laws.
