Responsibilities The Business Development Associate (“BDA”) will serve as an integral member of the firm’s Business Development department. The BDA will oversee outreach efforts designed to establish new client relationships and support current client expansions. Specific responsibilities will include: Identify prospective clients at target Private Equity firms and F1000 companies via desktop research and by leveraging top talent lists. Use existing templates to develop effective outreach messages that connect our services to the client’s expected talent needs. Manage and send outreach campaigns on behalf of Raines’ senior business development leaders to prospective clients through SourceWhale (campaign management tool) and LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Originate introductory meetings for CEO, Managing Directors, Senior Vice Presidents, and the head of business development with pre-qualified prospective clients. Track responses and ensure introductory meetings are scheduled with interested prospective clients. Partner with colleagues to ensure Salesforce (CRM) is updated with client progress status, meeting notes, and next steps. Collect market insights that may inform further prospective client outreach. Provide updates on outreach efforts and maintain active communication on progress. Maintain organized and up-to-date prospective client lists on Salesforce and SourceWhale. Assess outreach effort effectiveness through data analysis and develop new strategies to reach prospective clients and promote firm. Assist with firm-wide adoption of Salesforce and other processes to track business development opportunities, firm relationships, and outreach. Become the SourceWhale Champion and train colleagues as needed during onboarding. Perform other duties as assigned. Professional Experiences and Qualities The ideal candidate should have 1 to 2 years of experience working in a research, business analyst, or business development related role, preferably at a top-tier executive search or professional services firm. The ideal candidate should also possess, at minimum, the following qualifications and attributes: Inquisitive and possesses strong, comprehensive research skills. Has the drive and willingness to dig deep when identifying and evaluating prospective clients. Strong technical skills, with broad knowledge of tools to aid in client identification, broad market research, etc. Exhibits exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high quality work. Exceptional time management, organization, and project prioritization skills, adept at managing multiple competing priorities at once. High sense of urgency, executing projects quickly and effectively. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and the ability to influence others. Excellent communicator and listener who asks clarifying questions to ensure understanding and assimilates feedback quickly. A critical thinker who approaches challenges with a solution-oriented mindset and a positive, optimistic attitude. Adaptable and flexible with the ability to work calmly under pressure. Demonstrates a polished and professional appearance, coupled with exceptional business writing skills. Knowledge of the private equity sector is preferred but not required. Prior experience using Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and campaign management tools is preferred but not required. The person in this role will help the organization achieve: The expansion of Raines’ relationships at target client firms which will ultimately lead to reaching our annual revenue target; The most efficient business development function in the industry; Internal clients becoming obsessed with the Business Development department’s speed and quality of work, being empowered to convert the team’s strategic recommendations into new business for the firm; A culture based around high performance, supporting and celebrating teammates, optimism, and integrity. Education A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
