In this role, you will shape the company’s long‑term site strategy, guide early‑stage development, and coordinate across internal teams and external partners. This will be a remote opportunity with 30‑40% travel. Role Responsibilities Oversee pre‑development planning, including regulatory reviews, feasibility studies, and early engagement with local authorities and utilities. Lead the strategy for identifying, evaluating, and acquiring sites for new data center projects, balancing cost, power availability, and long‑term value. Guide portfolio planning by analysing market trends, infrastructure readiness, and regional demand for data center capacity. Build relationships with developers, landowners, utility providers, and community stakeholders to support smooth project execution. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align site selection with overall business priorities. Establish processes, tools, and best practices for site acquisition, due diligence, and development. Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing team responsible for sourcing and developing sites. Represent the organization externally, providing thought leadership and insight into emerging markets, regulatory trends, and infrastructure planning. Provide guidance on capital allocation, market entry decisions, and long‑term site positioning to support strategic growth initiatives. Required Experience & Skills Minimum of 10 years or relevant experience, preferably within a data center environment Demonstrated ability to navigate complex regulatory, permitting, and utility requirements in multiple regions. Strong commercial and negotiation capabilities, including experience with partnership agreements, tax incentives, or similar arrangements. Proven leadership in building and managing teams that deliver results in dynamic, fast‑paced environments. Deep understanding of land acquisition, zoning, permitting, and utility coordination processes. Experience with hyperscale or enterprise‑class data center development. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills. Track record of successfully managing large‑scale acquisitions or developments from early planning to operational handoff.
