Washington, United States Credence Management Solutions, LLC Full time

Overview

Team Credence is a multi-company partnership proudly led by Credence Management Solutions, an industry leading government contractor with a longstanding commitment to USAID and its global health and humanitarian missions. In concert with our small business partners—ZemiTek (8(a), EDWOSB), Claro KC (MOSB), EnCompass (WO), and Global Emergency Group (SB)—Team Credence operates as one team, bringing together exceptional USAID institutional support experience, technical leadership, and an unmatched commitment to BHA and its mission.

USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID/BHA) is the lead federal coordinator for international disaster assistance. USAID/BHA provides and coordinates U.S. Government (USG) international humanitarian assistance to save lives, alleviate human suffering, and reduce the physical, social, and economic impact of rapid and slow-onset disasters by supporting at-risk populations to build stable foundations to withstand humanitarian shocks and stresses. Team Credence, through the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance Support Contract (BHASC), provides operational and administrative support to provide and coordinate humanitarian assistance and maintain 24/7 response capability.

The Humanitarian Information Team (HIT) is responsible for factual reporting to the public and USG interagency on humanitarian assistance and response efforts globally. HIT Information Officers (IOs) are the lead reporting point of contact for USAID/BHA, providing clear, accurate, and timely information on humanitarian developments and response for program staff and USG senior leadership to support humanitarian decision making.

The HIT comprises more than 50 IOs and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialists, along with a management team, who work closely together. Part of the Strategic Communication and Humanitarian Information Division in USAID/BHA’s Global Policy, Partnerships, Programs, and Communications (G3PC) Office, IOs are assigned to regional portfolios and response teams on a rotating basis. IOs are on call for deployment—often on short notice—to embassies, disaster zones, and conflict-affected areas to support and sustain quality reporting on international humanitarian crises and USG response.

As an Information Officer, you will be an integral part of a regional team based in Washington, D.C., or serving on a disaster response team overseas, assigned to natural disasters, complex emergencies, and other humanitarian crises. This is primarily a writing and editing job.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

Collect, synthesize, and analyze information on current humanitarian emergencies and response efforts, and use that information to write, edit, format, obtain clearance for, and disseminate a wide range of internal and external information products. Information products can include BHA fact sheets, internal humanitarian updates, official cables, talking points, briefings, and other correspondence.
Work with geospatial analysts and graphic designers to develop analytic and visual information products that support humanitarian response and reporting.
Use Excel and financial reporting systems to organize and develop detailed funding charts to include in information products.
Serve on Response Management Teams (RMTs) to provide D.C.-based information support to Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DARTs), often requiring fast-paced, after-hours work.
Travel internationally on rotations to USAID/BHA regional or country offices for extended periods of time (12 weeks at a time or more). Produce field notes, trip reports, relevant meeting and call notes, updates, public reports, and other information products.
Serve on DARTs which may require immediate (within 24 hours) deployment overseas for an extended period of time. During deployment, work is primarily performed in an embassy office setting, but often in countries and regions of the world experiencing disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and active conflict, with limited infrastructure and/or services. Produce relevant meeting and call notes, updates, cables, and other urgent information products.

When deployed, in coordination with regional team staff and disaster response team leads, attend meetings and collaborate closely with information counterparts from other USG agencies, the UN, and nongovernmental organizations to ensure that all relevant humanitarian information is obtained and communicated to USAID/BHA staff.
