About the team: Klaviyo’s global corporate Information Technology (IT) team is responsible for providing technology systems, administration, and support to Klaviyos around the world. Our main goal is to ensure that Klaviyos everywhere have a strong technology foundation to do great work. The IT Team solves problems using technology and provides Klaviyo’s continued scalability and sustainable employee growth in a rapidly evolving environment. The IT Collaboration Technology & Engineering (CT&E) team is responsible for the complete lifecycle management of the organization's collaboration technology and audiovisual systems. This includes developing automation and engineering solutions for both internal departments and the wider organization. The team works in close collaboration with several other groups, including the IT Searchbar, IT Networking, and IT Systems teams (which provide end-user support), as well as with the Security, Risk, and Trust teams, and the broader Engineering department. About the role: As the Lead AV Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving our AV initiatives across the organization. You will help to build and lead a talented team of AV technicians ensuring the seamless integration and operation of AV systems in various environments, from conference rooms to large-scale events. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of AV equipment, as well as collaborating with stakeholders to identify their needs and deliver tailored solutions. You will be responsible for project management, ensuring that all AV projects are completed on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Collaboration Technology to mentor and develop your team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation. Your leadership will be critical in implementing best practices, optimizing workflows, and enhancing the overall AV experience for users. How you’ll have an impact You’ll oversee the ticket queue related to collaboration technology, ensure that priority tickets are solved expediently, and provide coaching and guidance to more junior team members. You’ll mentor team members to grow and develop in their careers and help increase their scope and impact throughout their tenure at Klaviyo. You’ll provide real-time support to remote and in-office Klaviyos by asking the right questions to dig into the root cause of the problem. Establish team standards and monitor objectives and key results (OKRs). Identify recurring technical issues and eliminate manual processes through automation. Participate actively with documentation and write knowledge base articles, including editing and reviewing documentation created by junior team members. You’ll support our conference rooms and unified communications technology on a Global scale. What we’re looking for Principal-level AV Engineering Expertise: 5+ years of experience in AV engineering, demonstrating a deep understanding of complex AV systems, design, and implementation. Leadership in AV Operations: Proven experience leading and mentoring AV teams, overseeing project lifecycles, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality AV solutions. Advanced Live Production Proficiency: Extensive experience with audio consoles, video switchers, cameras, microphones, and related equipment, with a focus on advanced live events, live audio reinforcement, and broadcast-quality live TV production. Strategic Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage and lead complex AV projects and initiatives from conception to completion, including budget management and vendor coordination. Unified Communications & Streaming Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Wirecast streaming software (or similar), Zoom, Neat, Jamboard, and other unified communications solutions, including the ability to troubleshoot and optimize for critical events. Core Technology Integration: Strong experience with core technologies/applications such as Jamf Pro, Okta, 1Password, Google Workspace, and Atlassian Product Suite (Confluence/Jira), with an emphasis on how they integrate with AV systems. Workplace Management System Acumen: Familiarity with Robin, OfficeSpace, Envoy, or similar workplace management applications, and their role in optimizing AV resource allocation. Exceptional Communication & Mentorship: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to mentor junior AV engineers. Pioneering Technology Adoption: A passionate and proactive approach to learning and implementing new AV technologies, with a track record of identifying and integrating innovative solutions. Complex Problem-Solving & Innovation: A strong aptitude for tackling challenging technical problems, designing creative solutions, and driving continuous improvement in AV infrastructure. Advanced Networking for AV: In-depth knowledge of wired and wireless networking principles as they apply to sophisticated AV systems, including troubleshooting and optimization for performance. On-site Leadership & Support: Ability to work from the Boston office at least 4 days per week as needed, providing principal-level on-site event support, including after-hours and on-call rotational support. Physical Dexterity: Capable of handling freight shipments and moving equipment up to 50lbs, as required for AV deployments and events. Travel for Key Initiatives: Ability to travel as needed ( >10% of the time) to support remote offices, major events, or new AV installations You’ve already experimented with AI in work or personal projects, and you’re excited to dive in and learn fast. You’re hungry to responsibly explore new AI tools and workflows, finding ways to make your work smarter and more efficient. Nice to have You've got experience with programming languages or scripting knowledge. You have experience with MDM/SSO strategy and support. You have wired and wireless networking knowledge.
