Quality Manager

PURPOSE: To manage the day-to-day operation of the Quality Control Department to ensure compliance with the quality system and the customer requirements.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize, implement and direct the application of assigned human and material resources to assure on time delivery of products and/or services meeting established requirements. Fulfilling customers' needs and expectations, including initial part submissions and submission of required quality documentation
Maximize the use of assigned resources to assist in meeting quality, schedule and profit objectives. Encourage and facilitate improvement projects
Establish goals, work plans, and budgets such that lowest cost and highest quality results are achieved
Assure that organizational activities comply with all applicable government regulations and contract requirements
Assure audits of the Management System and areas of responsibility for conformance to quality plans, systems, and requirements
Analyze product losses, material review activity, manufacturing costs and maintain programs to meet objectives and drive process / product improvement programs and provide process method excellence throughout the organization
Provide quality plans to monitor and report quality delays, control and monitor significant out of tolerance gages
Develop and maintain a communication plan to provide employees with adequate information concerning quality business goals and objectives
Establish and maintain a climate that encourages an open two-way channel of communication whereby employees exchange ideas / suggestions and share information
Identify and provide for the training and development of quality team



REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited university or college, or a minimum of 6 years’ experience in Quality related functions with a progressive history of increased responsibility, particularly in the areas of product / process quality management
Experience in Leading Quality System Planning and Quality Improvement methods
Minimum of Internal Auditor training in ISO 9001 and / or AS 9100. Certified Lead Assessor is desirable
Knowledge of machining, assembly, NDT, Metrology, Auditing, Root cause analysis
Leadership experience in the areas of Operations, Manufacturing, or Quality is preferred
Experience working directly with external customers and suppliers
Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
Project / Program Management tools and process familiarity desirable
Comfortable with groups and proper presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to excel in all customer service areas
Responsible and accountable for meeting customer/business needs as well as developing direct reports
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills



WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud when on the shop floor. This position also has a role in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
