POSITION OVERVIEW:Ensures the safety of all food products sold by *** including frozen, fluid, commissary and ice. Ensures that all fluid and frozen products manufactured by *** conform to the products
specifications.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leading the Food Safety and Quality team and essential hands on assisting with the maintenance of the food safety prerequisite, preventive controls, and the overall Food Safety program.Maintains proficiency and understanding of food regulations and maintains communication with the teams to aid in ongoing compliance. (SQF Practitioners compliance, HAACP).Ensures the Food Safety programs are updated and maintained.Implements, drives, and upgrades Certifications AuditsManages the relationship with our customers by being responsible of customer audits, answering complaints and tracking root cause analysis in conjuncture with the Quality Control Department, filling out the customer information in appropriate portals, following parameters for product quality control and release.Writes and/or modifies product specifications and batch sheets after the Research & Development (R&D) team has created and/or defined product standards or working in conjunction with for over all of UDF.Manages the vendor approval program by keeping an updated list of all suppliers/service providers, overseeing audits of suppliers, analyzing technical sheets from suppliers, and validating all specifications prior to sending them to the supplier.Cooperates in food safety team projects such as managing risk analysis and establishing cleaning qualifications.Develops, organizes, and implements effective training programs re: hygiene, FSMA, Food Safety/HACCP. Provides hands-on assistance and direction to production associates as needed to ensure product safety and quality.Ensures product and sales/customer samples are properly selected and shipped as needed.Assists in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints, including root cause analysis.Provides regular oversight and review of process monitoring and product verification results for all processes.Maintains and reviews Quality Control documentation.Responsible for ensuring that QC holds, and non-conforming materials are identified, segregated, processed, handled, stored, and dispositioned in a manner consistent with company food safety and quality policies as well as regulatory requirements.Manages the Right First-Time process, leads the root causes analysis and follows the actions plan.Implements and drives certifications upgrades.Updates quality procedures and validates all quality documentation prior to implementing new versions.Guarantees the respect of quality procedures and leads all continuous improvement process for UDF.Manages the internal audit function while ensuring that internal audits are performed as required, and results documented and communicated to the internal teams.Assists Management by providing inputs for monthly KPI s. Provides feedback to assist Quality management in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.Participates in regulatory & Food Safety, etc.
audits and aiding in compliance requirements for FDA, USDA, BRC, SQF inspectors / auditors.Works closely with team members to ensure that all Quality activities align with each other s, as well as customer, company, and regulatory requirements and standards.Participates in production, spec, and other meetings as necessary for smooth and continuous production flow.Serves as a resource / reference to production team members on quality related issues.Ensures that safety practices are properly followed, including adherence to proper PPE requirements, safety, role modeling behavior and maintaining clean and organized workspaces.Pro-actively seeks to correct unsafe conditions and reports any conditions that are not immediately resolved.Continuously promotes motivation among the staff to strive for more efficient and productive Quality department, including modeling and leading high standards.In conjunction with Vice President/HR, is responsible for interviewing, selection, coaching, training, discipline, recognition and performance management of an hourly staff through positive relations, morale building, teamwork, and consistent leadership.Coaches and models behaviors for team members for appropriate processes and facilitates problem solving through teamwork and the promotion of a respectful environment, to include conducting and leading team meetings.Additional duties as requested or assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or equivalent; or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Interpersonal Ability: Ability to effectively manage staff and relationships with plant manager, plant maintenance personnel, marketing staff and other department staff to ensure product safety and quality as well as cost effective operations.Organizational Ability: Ability to organize own workload and workload of staff so work is completed accurately and on a timely basis.Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and regulatory documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of company employees including those in production, marketing, accounting, retail and executive positions.Math Ability: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel and Genesis product development software.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises employees in the QA Lab plus a plant janitorial employee. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
