Los Angeles, United States Kansas City Symphony Full time

Project Angel Food seeks a Chief Development Officer who will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the fundraising efforts of Project Angel Food by designing and implementing a comprehensive, multi-year strategy that aligns with the organization’s strategic plan and long-term goals. This is a newly created leadership role that represents a significant organizational investment in Project Angel Food’s long-term vision for growth and community impact. With an entrepreneurial mindset and with the vision and skill to take the organization to the next level of fundraising, the Chief Development Officer will diversify and increase philanthropic revenue and impact across all aspects of fundraising including annual giving, major gifts, institutional giving, donor engagement, stewardship, and events. The Chief Development Officer will establish, deepen, and grow individual, business, and corporate relationships and employ new and innovative engagement approaches to reach new markets and donors and meet ambitious fundraising goals. They will foster a culture of inclusivity, equity, and accountability, providing mentorship and guidance to the fundraising team and organizational partners. The Chief Development Officer will be a key partner in shaping the future of an organization known for its transformative impact on vulnerable people facing critical and life-threatening illness.Project Angel Food nourishes the health and spirit of people facing critical and life-threatening illnesses by preparing and delivering medically tailored meals with love, care, and dignity. Since 1989, Project Angel Food has provided more than 20 million meals to critically ill individuals across Los Angeles County. As a leader in the Food is Medicine movement, the organization tirelessly advocates for the national expansion of medically tailored meals, ensuring that everyone battling illness receives the nutrition they need. Currently, Project Angel Food serves more than 1.5 million medically tailored meals each year to 5,272 individuals. Project Angel Food is temporarily preparing and packing meals at their Lincoln Heights facility while construction is underway to build The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Campus, which will double the size of their facilities. Once completed, this state-of-the-art campus will allow them to prepare and deliver three times as many meals, meeting the needs of the growing number of seriously ill people throughout Los Angeles County. Each year, more than 5,814 volunteers dedicate 47,881 hours to Project Angel Food — equivalent to the efforts of 22 full-time employees — ensuring that no one faces illness alone.I came on board as Executive Director (and later CEO) 10 years ago and we have experienced explosive growth since then. We went from serving 1,000 people a day to 3,000 today. We had 37 staff members, now we have 113. Our budget went from $3.8 million a year to $17 million this year. I’ve always felt this organization deserved better — the employees should be paid more, should have full health care and they should not only love their work, but feel like they are compensated properly. We’ve made tremendous strides, but we keep working on it every day. As of October 2025, we have achieved many of these goals. So why a Chief Development Officer and why now? Because we need someone to help us get to the next level. In December 2025, we will be moving into our brand new $21 million state-of-the-art Kitchen and Food Preparation Center And by the end of 2027 we will move into our second building: our “Client and Volunteer Outreach Center.” We need to build the organization of the future. The Chief Development Officer will be a motivator, strategist and a thought partner for me. This will be only our second C-Level executive ever in the organization. I want someone who isn’t afraid of our success and wants to help us soar even more. For more information, including core competencies and qualifications, please refer to the full prospectus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
