The Territory Outreach Manager, also referred to as a Business Development Representative, builds, maintains and establishes the Promises Behavioral Health brand by establishing business connections with hospitals, crisis units, physicians, mental health professionals and other relevant groups or agencies that need our services. This role collaborates closely with hospital discharge planners, social workers, case managers, physicians and management, as well as provide education staff to generate referral sources. The focus of this position is to promote our programs in community service areas communicating our entire spectrum of services through direct personal contact with existing and potential referral sources, while providing services in support of referrals and contributing to the welfare of alumni, clients and families.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Works in conjunction with the Regional Director of Outreach to exceed all performance measures in the assigned region
- Completes all necessary administrative assignments and documentation as requested
- Meets all behavioral and metric driven performance measures for their assigned territory
- Acts as a facilitator between the referral sources and our treatment centers regarding admission communication follow-up
- Consistently gains customer commitment throughout the referral process
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with key referral sources to meet and exceed census goals
- Develops an individual territory plan using a unique territory approach, identifying, developing and maintaining specific referral account activities
- Executes analysis of assigned region and creates strategic plans
- Offers clinically informed tours of our facilities to potential or existing referral sources
- Acts as a liaison to professional referents to promote Promises Behavioral Health services
- Professionally represents Promises at networking events, conferences, and meetings
- Identifies the most viable potential referral sources/payers within the target markets and determines how to access those sources
- Drafts communications to prospective referral sources and appropriate community resources
- Accurately refers clients to the organization with an understanding of appropriateness and level of care
- Carries out responsibilities in compliance with company policies and all local, state and federal laws
- Daily Reporting of all activities in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
Job Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business or job related medical or mental healthcare discipline is preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years' proven sales experience is preferred
- Understanding of the sales pipeline in behavioral health preferred
- Previous experience in the behavioral/mental health sector is preferred
- Experience in developing strategic plans and accurate forecasts for territory and accounts is preferred
- Working understanding and practical application of using a CRM
Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent relational, public speaking, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to establish and expand relationships with key decision makers within each customer organization in the territory
- Process and metric driven
- Ability to make meaningful connections with a high speed of trust and the ability to anticipate next steps in the sales cycle
