Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant Supervisor manages and leads a team of medical assistants, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient care. This role involves a combination of administrative tasks, clinical oversight, and staff management.
Responsibilities:
Supervision and Team Management:
Oversee the daily activities of the medical assistant team, including scheduling, workload distribution, and performance management.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and training to medical assistants, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and best practices.
Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate updates, share information, and gather feedback.
Clinical Oversight:
Ensure that medical assistants adhere to clinical protocols, maintain accurate patient records, and follow infection control and safety guidelines.
Monitor the quality of patient care provided by the medical assistant team and address any issues promptly.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and other clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care coordination.
Administrative Tasks:
Manage patient scheduling, appointment coordination, and front desk activities.
Assist with patient check-in, medical history documentation, and vital signs measurement as needed.
Handle administrative tasks such as billing, insurance verification, and medical records management.
Training and Development:
Train new medical assistants on job responsibilities, clinical procedures, and office protocols.
Provide ongoing training to ensure that the team is up-to-date on medical advancements, regulations, and best practices.
Quality Assurance:
Implement quality control measures to ensure accurate documentation, proper patient care, and compliance with regulations.
Participate in audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Communication:
Maintain open and effective communication channels with other departments, providers, and patients.
Address patient concerns, resolve conflicts, and escalate issues as necessary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified medical assistant program preferred.
Medical Assistant certification is a plus.
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant and demonstrated proficiency in clinical and administrative tasks.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and patient care standards.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
