Department Overview
Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.
Position Summary
Participates within the development of strategic asset, tactical operating plans, and related performance goals and metrics. Assists within the establishment of the Asset Management Manual. Conducts project-specific life-cycle economic and hydraulic/hydrologic analyses to support decision-making on relicensing negotiations, potential divestiture, decommissioning studies, and new generation facilities, and specific economic and financial project feasibilities for multi-million-dollar investments. Manages the overall quality and completion of Power Generation's long-term investment plan.
This position is flexible within Auburn or Oakland, headquarters will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location based on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $ 109,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $ 175,000.00
OR
Minimum Base Salary (California) $ 104,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (California) $ 166,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Performs technical and advanced research, analysis, and develops/implements recommendations.
- Reviews the composition of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Relicensing applications, General Rate Case (GRC) filings, and other filings, testimonies, and justifications.
- Conducts technical and advanced economic analysis and forecasting for projects, develops recommendations to resolve discrepancies, and executes corrective actions.
- Conducts and integrates advanced trending and analysis of operating, maintenance, and investment metrics with asset strategies.
- Acts as a representative for PG&E to the utilities industry, regulatory agencies, governmental bodies, and other organizations.
- Acts as a coordinator within Power Generation management to address and resolve needs and issues.
- Provides support for the execution of Chief of Staff’s process improvement initiatives and functions.
- Provide training, guidance, and instruction to lesser experienced asset strategy analysts.
- Occasional travel (up to 20%) required to company, client, or other external offices, facilities, sites, venues, and/or locations.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7 years of experience in electric utility operations, engineering, finance, maintenance, project management, or related field.
Desired:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
- 8 years of experience in electric operations
