The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $83,556 - $129,915, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are excited to invite you to consider an incredible opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Manager, overseeing our dedicated school nurses and school health room technicians. As a vital part of our organization (DHHS/Public Health Services/School Health Services), you will play a key role in supporting the health and well‑being of students across our school district. We are looking for someone who is not only skilled in nursing but also passionate about guiding and mentoring a team to provide exceptional care in a school setting. The position is responsible for management and supervision of 20‑25 school community health nurses (Registered Nurses) and school health room techs (Certified Nursing Assistants) who are assigned to provide the full range of school health services to students in MCPS including direct and delegated nursing care. This includes providing expert guidance and training, providing supervision to health staff in accord with federal, state and local regulations; fiscal and personnel management, program and data analysis and planning, and participating on the school health services management team to develop policy drafts and revisions. Selected candidates will be required to complete a medical exam, drug screening, and a background check. Experience Three (3) years of full‑time equivalent post‑licensure experience as a nurse, two (2) years of which must have been in community health nursing. (Community Health Nursing includes working in schools (School Health Services), Faith‑Based Medical Facilities, community clinics, government agencies, and non‑profit organizations.) Education Graduation from a National League for Nursing accredited college or university or an equivalent program as determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing Examiners with a Bachelor's Degree in nursing and a Master's Degree in a nursing specialty or other health or management discipline. Equivalency An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Additional years of experience specific to Nurse Manager (Supervising, Program Management, Clinical Leadership/Oversight experience in a Health Program) may be substituted for the required education. License Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland* issued by the Maryland Board of Examiners is required at the time of appointment. If the license is temporary, a regular Maryland RN license must be obtained within ninety (90) days of appointment. The State of Maryland accepts as valid the current RN licensure from a candidate’s primary state of residence if that state has an interstate compact with Maryland. The states having this interstate compact are Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
