Maintenance Coordinator

Full-time, benefits-eligible position, 40 hours per week

Monday thru Friday, schedule TBD, some flexibility for morning starting time


Purpose: To ensure an exceptionally clean store and maintain safe, functioning equipment through direct action and by organizing other departments to maintain and clean their areas.


Status: Reports to Storekeeping Manager

Pay Level 5, based on previous experience

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, implement, and maintain ongoing cleaning program for areas of the store not covered by individual departments.

• Provide regular evaluation of all store cleaning; propose changes and improvements.

• Prepare maintenance calendar. Provide regular store maintenance as needed i.e. change light bulbs, grease stocking carts, and swinging doors, change furnace filters, etc.

• Monitor refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems.

• Act as liaisons with contractors for store repairs and maintenance.

• Maintain a list of contractors for equipment repairs.

• Work closely with Facilities Manager on refrigeration issues and other issues which affect the maintenance/safety of the store.

• Work with department managers in coordinating the purchase of store supplies and obtain bids from vendors in order to obtain appropriate discounts.

• Be responsible for safety in the workplace by creating a safe work environment, reporting safety concerns to a manager or member of the Safety Committee, and adhering to safety rules and regulations.

• Perform various preventative maintenance tasks.

• Perform cleaning tasks, including assisting with cooler cleaning throughout the store.

• Change water filters.

• Oversee recycling and trash compactors.

• Painting and dusting projects.

• Order/pick up supplies for Storekeeping and/or other departments, as necessary.

• Coordinate rental vehicles, as needed.

• Make drop off/pick up trips to storage, ARCC, Restore, etc.

• Receive and follow through with all department maintenance requests.

• Change out rugs.

• Work closely with Storekeeping Manager on any issues affecting the maintenance and safety of the store.

• Coordinate pipe jetting and grease trap clean out.

• Assist with special events.

• Follow department policies and procedures.


Requirements:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Qualifications:

• Basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.

• General knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures.

• Self-directed and self-motivated.

• Ability to pay attend to and follow through with details.

• Must be comfortable with ladders and machinery.

• Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.

• Ability to listen.

• Team player.

• Preventative maintenance experience with lighting, mechanical, and refrigeration.

• Painting experience.

• Organized.

• Clear communication skills.

• Flexible hours, must be able to work at night.

• Ability to follow the safety policies and procedures of Hunger Mountain Co-op.

• Ability to provide excellent service to customers, vendors and coworkers.

• Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork and constant communication are essential.

• Ability to be physically present onsite at the Co-op to perform the requirements of this position.


For excellence in this position, the following are preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.

• Experience with fire alarm systems and performing preventable maintenance for safety of the facility.
