Director of Business Development

The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and implementing marketing programs for RIOS that are based on the office's strategic goals focusing on obtaining new business in new market sectors, new typologies, and large fee projects.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with various teams to develop and execute comprehensive, research-based strategic planning that directs marketing efforts to enhance RIOS' portfolio of business by actively participating in the project procurement process, and generating new business opportunities for the company
  • Responsible for the procurement and development of new business leads, client relationships and networking opportunities nationally.
  • In conjunction with the Creative Directors and Studio Directors, directly interface with clients as necessary to further the objectives and best interests of the company.
  • Coordinate all facets of the BD deliverables to potential clients.
  • Conduct research and compile information regarding existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and industry or market trends to aid in the development of sales strategy, marketing plans, presentations, and proposals.
  • Collaborate with marketing team members to define, track and achieve measurable goals established during strategic planning sessions.
  • Serve as mentor to other members of the marketing team to aid in their professional development
  • Work with marketing team to ensure that marketing collateral, such as brochures are current, complete and accurate
  • Develop BD presentations and leverage digital assets to increase exposure for RIOS
  • Coordinate special events and public relations engagements
  • Coordinate and support ongoing research to support marketing efforts


Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have a desire to promote and grow the firm
  • Candidate should be knowledgeable and interested in the architecture and design industry and a strong familiarity of market areas of interest
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and timely complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision
  • Graphic skills necessary for creating professional collateral such as layout proposal responses, graphics, and photos
  • Confident and proactive verbal and written communication with internal and external colleagues and clients
  • Must possess strong computer skills and high proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Office 365
  • Must demonstrate robust work ethic and be resourceful and proactive
  • Collaboration and teamwork are essential
  • Prior experience in the A/E/C industry preferred


Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of direct professional experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Business, Management, Finance or related field.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong sales, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed across U.S.
