International Customer Care & Logistics Planner

Overview

This role requires an A+ team player- driven and dedicated to the overall success of the business. Strong knowledge of export regulations, customs procedures and export documentation.

Essential Job Functions.

  • Ownership of end-to-end export shipments taking initiative to investigate and solve issues.
  • Customer Service and order entry, pricing approval, inventory availability and order management and end-to end.
  • Pre-booking of containers for export, balance costs, warehouse capabilities and lead times of various container options (20’, 40’, port selection etc.).
  • Synchronize cargo ready dates and arrival dates between vendors, carriers/forwarders and facilities.
  • Tender international freight to carriers/forwarders based on cost, priority and track the volumes of each carrier/forwarder.
  • Preparation and accuracy verification of all export documentation; ERP (JDE E1) and manually created certifications, update Tracker.
  • Responsible for understanding and ensuring all regulations, including IATA, IMDG, HAZMAT, Custom HTS, as well as the various Certificate of Origins for each Country or Region, all Regulatory Compliance.
  • Monitor market developments and communicate concerns that may impact supply chain.
  • Reduce costs and improve processes with international transportation providers.
  • Develop, maintain, and share performance metrics and overall program compliance.
  • Review and process claims as requested by customers or forwarders due to damaged or missing merchandised received.
  • Audit and approve inland, ocean and airfreight rates.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of export compliance (INCOTERMS, Shipping Documents etc.). International customer service experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) preferred.
  • Export certification or other training is preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of IMDG, IATA, Hazmat, Harmonized Codes, NAFTA, CAFTA, Certificates of Origin and International Regulation Compliance.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet specific goals and deadlines.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced business with frequent and rapid priority changes.
  • Strong experience working in a collaborative, cross functional environment, both domestic and international.
  • High skill sets with MS Office applications – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Word, and Project.
  • The skills required to be successful in this position vary to the extent that the role is heavily positioned to execute daily operations analysis and reporting required to meet customer expectations.
  • Must have strong ability to work cross-functionally with a diverse team and customer base as well as clearly articulate technical solutions in relevant terms to both the team and customer.
  • Driven, decisive, diplomatic, with sound judgement and attention to detail.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
