Position Overview

Plans, manages and implements several of the Association’s business development conferences in-person, virtual, hybrid; and oversees several of the Association’s awards programs. Responsible for the meeting planning and on-site logistics functions for several of the Association’s business development conferences; and develops and implements marketing and promotional campaigns for these events.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serves as project manager for several of the Association’s business development events
  • Develops budgets for select business development programs
  • Assists with on-site logistics at select conferences
  • Serves as the primary meeting planner for select ELFA conferences
  • Assists in planning, promoting, delivering and evaluating select business development conferences
  • Works closely with ELFA standing committees on all facets of conference planning and delivery
  • Manages the work of outside vendors
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies for select business development conferences
  • Creates promotional materials for select business development conferences
  • Communicates regularly with speakers/presenters regarding the development of resource materials, audiovisual needs and other speaker-related requirements
  • Manages, edits and implements select sections of the ELFA website for related initiatives and projects
  • Work with appropriate staff and vendors to ensure that up-to-date technology is used in the execution of meetings
  • Manage select award programs and assist on others

  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate diverse groups, including volunteer members to work towards a common goal
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within tight time schedules and set priorities
  • Ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision and to prioritize
  • Strong team building skills and a collaborative spirit
  • Possesses initiative to suggest and/or implement actions to improve operations and maximize the Association’s objectives
  • Experience implementing and managing non-profit certification programs and continuing education initiatives.
  • Knowledge and application of technology (i.e. mobile applications, virtual conference platforms, and speaker management systems) for the development of a variety of promotional activities, communication with target markets and research of target market groups
  • Experience implementing the meeting planning function, including interfacing with hotel staff, developing the event orders and managing conference logistics within the constraints of the budget
  • Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of ClearVantage® database functionality

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three- to five-years of progressively responsible work experience involving educational content management and meeting planning
  • Experience in volunteer management
  • Non-profit/association experience
