Under the direction of the Manager, Compute & Collaboration, the Engineer III - Linux & Cloud would be responsible for helping in the design, configuration, and maintenance of IEHP’s virtualized RHEL, Oracle Linux, and other Linux based systems. This role will also be responsible for design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of IEHP’s Azure environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure effective daily operations of IEHP’s Linux based systems.
2. Run virtualized Linux based systems within a VMware environment.
3. Process changes to system software and hardware so that performance meets company’s objectives and maintain SLAs in accordance with change management policy.
4. Implement and maintain anti-virus for Linux based systems like RPM, DEB, etc.
5. Setup and maintain Satellite or similar tools for patching and maintaining Linux based systems.
6. Manage and apply necessary system security access.
7. Analyze performance indicators to ensure that systems are operating efficiently.
8. Build and maintain Linux based servers and associated applications in a highly available, scalable, and secure environment.
9. Manage and maintain IEHP’s Azure environment.
10. Provide support, troubleshooting, and design of our Azure cloud environment.
11. Utilize knowledge of cloud-based platforms as an extension of the Linux based server environment.
12. Perform root cause analysis for Linux based servers.

Education & Requirements

Eight (8) or more years of hands-on experience working with Linux based systems and Azure environments.
Linux: Five plus (5+) years of experience in administration of Linux or Unix-like computer operating system assembled under the model of free and open-source software development and distribution.
Demonstrated experience with Apache Tomcat, often referred to as Tomcat Server.
Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or similar technical field from an accredited institution required.

Key Qualifications

Strong knowledge of VMware’s Tanzu platform.
Strong knowledge of storage and security administration, in addition to load balancing and application of appropriate security measures.
Strong planning, organization, critical thinking, decision-making and communication (verbal and written) skills.
