Position Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Shipping Inspector to ensure that all components of completed customer orders are accurate, defect-free, complete, and in excellent condition before shipment. This role is ideal for someone with strong computer skills, experience in inspection, and a keen eye for detail. The Shipping Inspector will play a critical role in maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Gain proficiency in using measuring devices and become familiar with ISO methodologies and procedures.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports using computer software and required procedures.
  • Review final documentation and work order build packages for completeness and accuracy prior to shipment.
  • Verify, confirm, and sign off on job package paperwork, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of all outbound customer orders to confirm they are complete, accurate, and in excellent condition.
  • Perform final inspections of products leaving the production area, ensuring documentation accuracy and order count correctness.
  • Follow detailed inspection procedures and maintain high quality standards.
  • Document inspection results, including completing reports and logs accurately and promptly, summarizing rework and waste, and inputting data into quality databases.
  • Inspect orders for defects, damage, and deviations from specifications.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and suggest enhancements to inspection processes.
  • Issue non-conformance reports and assist in validating corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve quality-related issues and implement improvements.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and quality assurance procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review quality procedures and engineering requirements, and recommend adjustments to receiving, assembly, production, and/or shipping processes.
  • Contribute to effective communication between the Quality Department and Production.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in quality inspection or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and deviations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with quality control tools and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to excel with minimal supervision.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in computer software including Excel, Windows, and CAD.
  • Mathematical competency and ability to read and understand drawings, engineering documents, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of measuring devices or the ability to quickly learn.
  • Capability to read blueprints.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
