Overview The Nursing Director is responsible for ongoing leadership and operations of a clinical department and for nursing care safety and quality. The Nursing Director uses sound human resource and financial management principles and techniques to guide the provision of nursing services to patients and families. The Nursing Director supports comprehensive patient and family services through effective participation with the interdisciplinary team. 5 Sutherland is a general medical/surgical unit that cares for patients with renal failure and transplant, rehabilitation and liver failure and transplant specialties. Patients range in age from neonates to 18 years. We occasionally treat young adults and adult kidney donors who donate to child having a renal transplant. Responsibilities Provides leadership for nursing staff and the interdisciplinary patient care team to support high quality care of patients and families. Assures the personnel, workplace, and technology resources necessary for the provision of safe, high quality patient and family care. Leads the application of new knowledge and innovation to advance improvements at the department and organizational level. Utilizes financial data to effectively manage the department operating budget, plan capital expenditures, and formulate a business plan for new programs or services. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree BSN required and 5-7 years experience clinical nursing experience and progressive experience in leadership roles OR a Master's Degree in nursing may be accepted in lieu of a BSN. Starting Pay Remote Work/Work from Home This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
