Job Purpose: 

The Finance Business Manager will be responsible for the financial planning, analysis, and decision-making support with a focus on Crown’s construction operations. The role involves providing financial guidance to ensure profitability, efficiency, and compliance with all financial regulations and standards. The successful candidate will manage budgets, cash flow, forecasting, and financial reporting, while also acting as a business partner to project managers and senior leadership. 


Key Responsibilities: 

Financial Planning & Budgeting: 

  • Develop and manage financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for various projects. 
  • Monitor project costs and ensure alignment with the allocated budget. 
  • Prepare capital expenditure rationale and plans.  
  • Conduct financial risk assessments for ongoing and upcoming projects. 

Financial Reporting: 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. 
  • Provide analysis of financial data, including variances against forecasts and budgets. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements. 

Project & Cost Management: 

  • Track project progress and financial performance, ensuring cost-effective measures are in place. 
  • Support project managers in job costing, analyzing costs and revenues to ensure profitability. 
  • Support accounting functions with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, revenue recognition, and contract management 
  • Review and approve project budgets and cost estimates. 

Cash Flow & Funding: 

  • Manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and capital expenditure requirements. 
  • Liaise with financial institutions for loans, financing, and other capital requirements. 
  • Monitor and optimize working capital. 

Contract & Risk Management: 

  • Oversee financial aspects of contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. 
  • Support customer billing process.  
  • Ensure proper financial risk management strategies are in place for each project. 
  • Negotiate financial terms with clients and contractors when necessary. 

Compliance & Audit: 

  • Ensure business compliance with company policy and processes to ensure proper internal controls are followed. 
  • Support internal and external audit processes. 
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard company assets. 

Financial Strategy & Decision Support: 

  • Collaborate with other departments to drive company-wide financial strategies. 
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior management and stakeholders. 
  • Lead financial planning for business expansion, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA/CPA/CFA preferred). 
  • 5-10 years of experience in a financial management role within the construction industry is preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of project-based accounting and construction-specific financial management. 
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or construction-specific ERPs). 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and compliance in the construction industry.

Work Environment

This role operates remotely but may require occasional visits to sites. Long hours may be required during key reporting periods or project phases.
