SUPERVISES: Supervisor of the SE/CST staff and the overall staff as an Assistant Principal

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: The primary function of the Assistant Principal/Supervisor of SE/CST is to provide leadership in the process of developing, implementing, and maintaining curriculum, instruction funded programs that meets the learning needs of Hampton Township S.D. students and staff

* Assists the principal with duties related to instruction, supervision, evaluation and school administration

* Serves as building administrator in the absence of the principal

* Assists with conducting safety inspections, safety drills and procedure activities

* Coordinates the operation of any security equipment in the building

* Assists with the coordination and supervision of transportation, cafeteria and other student support services

* Reports and monitors student attendance and investigative follow-up actions

* Assists in maintaining high standards of student conduct enforcing disciplinary policies, making revisions to existing codes and communicating the information to families

* Prepares all required reports on violence, vandalism, substance abuse.

* Serves as the HIB Coordinator and conducts any HIB investigations

* Makes recommendations for changes to policies and/or personnel practices

* Assists with the scheduling process as needed

* Supervises extracurricular activities, assembly programs, and assigns staff to assist at school functions.

* Provide leadership to the districts special education program carrying out policies and programs for special education students; evaluating the existing programs and services; coordinating activities and making recommendations for improvements

* Responsible for all district compliance with regulations regarding special education programs and services

* Presides over parent, teacher and team conferences working toward implementing programs for classified students

* Confers with the CST to prepare conferences on classified students and assists with the development of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)

* Assists with the development of the CST evaluation program

* Assigns CST caseloads and appoints case managers for students referred

* Coordinate conferences through consultations with other professionals, therapists, teachers and administrators

* Schedule ESY program

* Schedules therapies including OT, PT, and speech for students who require services

* Arranges small groups for standardized testing and plans and implements the accommodations for special education and 504 students

* Acts as the district 504 Coordinator

* Completes all special education grant opportunities including the IDEA submission

* Plans departmental budget for the CST

* Recommends professional development programs for teachers

* Attends county and state meetings as required

* Completes any county, state and federal required reports

* Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and/or requested by the Principal.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

1. Hold State of New Jersey Administrator or Principal Certificate required.

2. Experience as a school administrator and/or supervisor of instruction.

3. Proven use of data to drive instruction.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of grant writing and fund development management.

5. Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to speak clearly in all settings.

6. Excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills.

7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in the areas of grant management, school administration and supervision of programs and staff.

8. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

9. Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment.

10. Special Education Experience Preferred
