The Director will lead the Business Development team, drive advertising, exhibit, and sponsorship revenue, and create innovative opportunities to expand the association’s brand. This individual will build and manage high-level sponsor and vendor relationships, collaborate with internal teams, and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives. A fantastic opportunity for a senior sales and business development professional to bring creativity, leadership, and vision to a mission-driven organizationResponsibilitiesGrow non-dues revenue through affinity programs, advertising, exhibits, and sponsorshipsLead and manage the business development team and outside contractorsCultivate and strengthen sponsor and vendor relationshipsOversee affinity programs, including vendor prospecting, contract negotiation, and retentionBuild and maintain a robust prospect pipeline through research, networking, and industry eventsManage departmental budgets, including expense and revenue targetsQualifications5+ years of business development and sales leadership experienceProven success managing advertising, sponsorships, and exhibitsStrong relationship‑building, negotiation, and closing skillsExcellent communication, project management, and strategic planning abilitiesWillingness to travel up to 20%Candidates for this position must be based in DC, MD, or VA area or have independent plans for relocation.The Ford Agency is a recruiting firm based in Washington, DC.
