This leadership role is critical to the delivery of distributed generation (DG) and utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind, hydro, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The successful candidate will oversee electrical design execution across the full project lifecycle—from early development through commissioning—while building and mentoring a high‑performing engineering team. This position requires strong technical expertise in renewable electrical design, proficiency with CAD and electrical modeling tools, and a deep understanding of engineering workflows, QA/QC processes, and troubleshooting practices. What you will do: Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for distributed generation (DG) and utility‑scale energy projects. Build and lead a high‑performing, self‑sufficient electrical engineering team focused on efficient project delivery and client satisfaction. Oversee and guide the preparation of detailed electrical design packages and system studies, including but not limited to short circuit, load flow, reactive power, harmonics, arc flash, grounding, insulation coordination, and transient analysis. Lead internal QA/QC processes to ensure technical accuracy and quality of all deliverables. Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and all applicable interconnection and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. Provide technical leadership throughout all project phases, from siting and permitting to detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Drive on‑time, within‑scope project execution through cross‑disciplinary collaboration with civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, and permitting teams. Engage directly with clients, utilities, AHJs, and other stakeholders to communicate technical concepts and ensure alignment. Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering challenges with sound technical judgment. Recruit, manage, and mentor electrical engineering staff, supporting team growth and professional development. Oversee staffing plans, resource allocation, and workload balancing. Support performance management, goal setting, and team development initiatives. Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence. Represent WSB in client meetings, interviews, and technical proposal efforts. Contribute to pursuit strategies, scoping, and level‑of‑effort estimation for new projects. What you will bring: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state with the ability to become licensed in multiple states. Minimum of 10 years of experience in power systems engineering with emphasis on distributed generation (DG) and utility‑scale renewable energy projects. Proven experience managing multi‑disciplinary engineering teams. Proficiency in electrical modeling and analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory). Proficiency with AutoCAD. Experience with PVsyst, Helioscope, PVCase, SAM, or other PV modeling tools. Expertise in NEC, NESC, IEEE standards, and utility interconnection requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills with client‑facing experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering. NABCEP certification or similar industry credentials.
