Summary:

The Road Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day Dispatch operation, including road supervision for Paratransit Operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coaching and mentoring employees; carrying out counseling and disciplinary actions as warranted; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Description

  • Knowledge of the operational characteristics of buses.
  • Knowledge of dispatching functions, including scheduling, routing, and using pertinent forms, records, and applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of MS word and packages, excel, PowerPoint, and computer knowledge and experience necessary.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to make rapid and accurate arithmetic computations.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively conduct written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
  • Strong ability to utilize mapping and GPS.
  • Ability to keep simple records accurately. Perform various physical duties to complete job responsibilities successfully. These can include but are not limited to, prolonged sitting and reaching, frequently climbing and descending steps, boarding and deboarding paratransit passengers, operating the wheelchair lift/ramp, assisting mobility impaired passengers to board or deboard buses that utilize wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, crutches as well ambulatory and safely securing wheelchairs using a tie-down restraint system.
  • Strong Knowledge of the area and surrounding areas
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more and push or pull heavy objects. Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk, get up from a sitting position, and squat frequently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, written, and vision skills.
  • Always conduct yourself professionally while working in a diverse environment, assuring a professional quality of service to all external and internal customers. This includes properly answering questions and solving customers' transit-related concerns.
  • Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Audit operator Pre-trip and post-trips and oversee all shift pullouts for service.
  • Start vehicles and support on the lot as needed.
  • Inspect assigned transit buses for mechanical problems. This includes conducting an external/internal visual inspection of the paratransit bus and pretesting all necessary equipment, operating/safety devices, and bus controls for use while in service.
  • Properly report all incidents, accidents, and mechanical concerns
  • Complete reports accurately and legibly.
  • Trail Checks and Ride Audits are performed weekly.
  • Report on all incidents and accidents that happen during service while on shift.
  • Accident/Incident Scene investigations and reporting
  • Drive Cam/Lytx and safety coaching with the operating staff.
  • Support operator, check-in/out, pull-out out, and fare collection at a satellite facility.
  • Assist dispatch and maintenance staff with vehicle needs in the field.
  • Assist operators with customer service concerns while in the field.
  • Provide feedback on safety and operations findings while out in the field.
  • Assist in identifying potential safety hazards and provide feedback in daily operational expectations.
  • Coach and mentor staff on safe driving performance and expectations.
  • Observe the driving habits and working habits of operators in the field.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • Requirements
  • At least 21 years old and have demonstrated a safe driving record.
  • A U.S. citizen or have all documented legal work status during the contract term.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent/ College a plus
  • Have an appropriate Valid State Operator' License and any other licenses or permits required for the type of work or vehicles operated for this service.
  • Obtaining such permits is the responsibility of the individual.
  • Ability to obtain For Hire endorsement /Required.
  • Excellent Driving Record
  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Available during all hours of operation 7 days a week and holidays as required by the service.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated in pre-employment testing.
  • Demonstrate English language competency (reading, writing, and speaking). Bilingual a plus
  • Ability to operate a vehicle.
  • Pass the pre-employment drug test and physical exam if required for the position.
  • Comply with the criminal background check requirements set forth by IPTC.
  • All personnel must behave professionally when communicating with customers and the community.
  • All personnel are expected to be polite and courteous in their speech and manner, exercising patience and self-control.
  • De-escalation skills and competencies

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 500 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. Ability to climb and bend.
  • Ability to communicate using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.
