Overview S2 Global, an OSI Systems Company, is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work in its Torrance, CA location. S2 Global is the leading provider of turnkey, state?of?the?art screening solutions for inspection and security. The solution is based on three core elements: concept of operations, training, and software. This software is key to the solution and highly unique to the industry. We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support deployments of our CertScan platform. You will be part of a systems engineering team responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs. The Network Engineer will design, implement, and ensure the stability and integrity of equipment used to provide the data transmissions network required to enable the service provisioned by the customer, while continuously improving these services using industry best practices. This includes planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. The role will involve working independently and on a team on the design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links, and analyzing/resolving network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. Responsibilities Design and deploy region LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs and other hardware, ensuring redundancy and recovery procedures. Analyze network performance, troubleshoot issues, and independently make decisions to repair as needed. Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records. Maintain and manage configurations, ensuring proper documentation is completed and processes followed. Design and deploy region LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs and other hardware. Collaborate with the customer IT team to meet and exceed compliance and design standards. Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records. Continuously assess the current state of the network against industry best practices and provide recommendations to improve throughput and reduce failures through redundancy and process improvements. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and processes for network administration, utilization, and disaster recovery, including continual improvement. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure network products and services. Work independently or with a team on new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Maintain and manage configurations, ensuring proper documentation is completed and processes are followed. Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and take necessary actions to repair as needed. Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, firewalls, and other network appliances. Configure networks to ensure reliable operation and availability for fulfilling business objectives and processes. Maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators, and related software/peripherals. Practice network asset management using CMDB, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation/technical specifications. Monitor and periodically test network performance and provide statistics and reports. Participate in managing all network security solutions and perform network and security audits ensuring backups and recovery procedures are in place. Up to 50% travel may be required. Report quality problems or defects to a manager or senior management for corrective action. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet business needs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or certifications plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years of progressive experience in networking and network security including VPNs, enterprise routing and L3-7 switching. Technical knowledge of monitoring systems (e.g., Orion, vCenter), network equipment (Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet), servers, Hyper-V/VMware, Windows Server, SQL Server, storage, Active Directory. AWS cloud experience desirable. 5+ years in enterprise network design and implementation; 5+ years in firewall/switch technologies; 5+ years in MPLS or VPLS network design; 5+ years in QoS design and implementation; 5+ years in EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as IP subnets, bandwidth, load, capacity, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Preferred Certifications: ITIL Foundations v3, CCNA, CCDA, CCDP, CCNP Cisco, Fortinet preferred or any industry standard network certification Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, Security+ given additional consideration Other Skills and Abilities Proven ability to make independent decisions and implement as needed. Proven experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation. Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices. Hands-on technical knowledge of network hardware and operating systems, including Cisco routers and switches, Fortinet firewalls and VPN concentrators. Knowledge of IPv6 and current network protocols and Internet standards. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present complex technical ideas in user-friendly language. Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment and provide excellent customer service. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Hardware troubleshooting experience; familiarity with sniffers, network analyzers, line toner, and network statistics/reporting tools; experience with data circuit testing tools. Knowledge of organizational goals and data privacy practices/laws including PCI and SOX. Other Qualifications Able to work on-call as required. Able to travel/drive to multiple locations if required; up to 50% travel may be required.
