Texas Oncology is looking for a Nurse Educator - Radiation to join our team This position will support the entire state of Texas. This is a full-time Monday - Friday (hours 8:00 am-5:00 pm) position.

What does the Registered Nurse (RN) Educator do?

Working independently, designs, develops, and implements training and education for clinical staff. Determines competency requirements for clinical staff and designs and develops competency tests. Performs administrative duties such as maintaining training requirements and history and measuring results of training. Prepares and analyzes various management reports related to training programs. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Coordinating with Leadership to assess and maintain training requirements of all staff

* May provide assistance with the systematic onboarding tools within the practice for all new nurses and medical assistants
* Determines competency requirements for oncology nurses, and other clinical staff
* Coordinates with multidisciplinary team (e.g., Pharmacist, Nursing to include triage and navigators), MD, APPs, Laboratory Services) to develop and conduct continuing education programs
* Coordinates with site leadership with training administration duties including maintaining records and collaborate with HR to maintain RN Licensure, CPR, ONS courses and professional and training requirements for each position, measuring the results of training programs, and producing reports. E.g., In Workday

Developing training and education

* Keeps current with industry trends in oncology nursing and practice management for the purpose of enhancing existing programs and developing new ones.
* Developing or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products including contributions related to educational materials and program development.
* Designs and develops training programs tied to competency requirements.
* Familiar with computer-based applications to design training materials. Materials can include leader guides, participant workbooks, self-study guides, videos, slides, overheads, and computer-based training.
* Uses audio/visual aids effectively
* Designs and develops new and ongoing competency assessments

Implementing training

* Provide educational programs or in-service training sessions on topics relevant to oncology specialty.
* Implements training and clinical education programs in the field and conducts train-the-trainer programs.
* Coordinate with Pharmaceutical representatives on new drug education where applicable
* Conducts training activities using a training style appropriate for the program and the participants
* Conducts course evaluations
* Assist with coordinating continuing education credits for nurses

Support patient education and provide nursing expertise

* May help with the systematic onboarding tools within the practice for all new nurses and medical assistants
* Functions as a resource to other interdisciplinary team members in development of care and treatment plans i.e., social workers, navigators, and genetic counselors
* Develop education materials for nurses on providing nursing care and guidance to the cancer patient from screening to survivorship.
* Functions as a resource to other interdisciplinary team members in development of care and treatment plans as needed.
* Conducts administrative duties necessary to set up course and documents completion (where applicable).
* Other duties as assigned.
* Assist with the coordination of MIPS standard maintenance



Qualifications

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

Education/Training

* BSN from an accredited program for professional nursing education.
* RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
* Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Business Experience

* Five years or more nursing experience in radiation oncology setting.
* Educator or nursing leadership experience required.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

* Oncology certification required.
