Description

Under supervision of the Aquatics Director, communicates effectively and provides services in instructional areas of aquatic programs according to YMCA policies, while maintaining a safe environment. Assists in the development of policies, procedures, scheduling and budgets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Assist the Aquatics Director with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating of all aquatics staff.
  2. Assist in the development of safety policies and procedures.
  3. Coordinates all swim lessons, handles scheduling and communications with families of participants.
  4. Participates in the delivery of the Y-Splash program.
  5. Plans and carries out in-service trainings monthly.
  6. Assist with budget development, preparation and administration.
  7. Promote and execute fundraising activities and events.
  8. Maintain pool water, systems and area.
  9. Order and maintain pool equipment and supplies.
  10. Assist in scheduling programs and pool usage.
  11. Fill in when needed for Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Water Aerobics.
  12. Prepare and order program supplies and materials.
  13. Assist in the development of new aquatic programs.
  14. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  15. Demonstrate strong customer service and hospitality skills.
  16. Other duties as assigned.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs, occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions
  • Physical and mental requirements for the certification course outlined in Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-year degree preferred
  • 2-4 years aquatic experience required
  • Current lifeguard certification required, American Red Cross Lifeguard preferred
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Certified Pool Operator license preferred or obtained within six months of hire
  • Experience teaching swim lessons preferred
  • Water Fitness Instruction experience preferred
