The Safety Manager will be diligent and experienced in implementing and monitoring safety procedures to prevent incidents and injuries within the facility. Proven track record in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safety culture among the teams. This position works closely with shared services from corporate, facility leadership, and various other functions, as well as external agencies and resources.

This is a highly visible role for our organization, and this individual must be an initiative-taker with a sense of urgency. The role requires you to effectively build relationships at all levels of the organization while providing exceptional support to our Operational leaders. To succeed, the leader must demonstrate leadership skills by being proactive in problem-solving and finding solutions. Experience implementing change in a dynamic and growth environment is a plus. Prior experience with 3PL, Retail, Distribution, Reverse Logistics/E-Commerce, and/or startup experience is a plus.

Job Summary:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ability to develop, implement, enforce, and maintain safety policies and procedures.

2. Lead and oversee safety training programs for associates at all levels.

3. Conduct regular safety assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards.

4. Investigate and analyze incidents and near misses to identify root causes and corrective actions.

5. Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and reporting protocols, ensuring strict confidentiality.

6. Prepare and present safety reports to leadership.

7. Manage associate incidents and comply with worker's compensation protocols.

8. Keeps abreast of, advises management, and ensures compliance with State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations such as OSHA. Stay informed on industry best practices.

9. Collaborate with on-site teams to address safety concerns, provide solutions, and implement improvements.

10. Partner with vendors, clients, and other external sources for safety-related items.

11. Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise.

12. All other duties based on business needs.

Skills and Qualifications:

Professional EH&S certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other Occupational Safety certifications, are a plus. Hazardous material training/certification is a plus.

1. A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related fields is preferred. At least 5 to 7 years of experience in EH&S or a related field is also required.

2. Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA)

3. Must work well in a demanding environment.

4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other agencies, and the public.

5. Excellent communication and organizational skills.

6. Plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.

7. Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills. Bilingual preferred (English & Spanish).

8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

9. Strong business acumen.

10. Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.

11. Manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable.

12. Relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization.

13. Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision-making, and financial and quantitative analysis.

14. Learn and adapt to current technology needs.

15. Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

The associate will conduct their tasks in a warehouse setting that may experience varying temperatures.

1. Navigate within the warehouse to operate machinery and utilize other equipment.

2. Endure extended periods of standing and may occasionally need to walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move objects weighing up to fifty pounds.

3. This job requires specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

4. Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues

5. Interpret instructions, reports, and information

6. Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy

7. Scan, manage, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to fifty pounds

8. Climb up and down ladders

9. Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and regular attendance necessary
