Chief EEG/EMU Technologist Supervisor

The Chief EMU Technologist manages the EEG Technologists who work in the EMUs and maintains the technical aspects of the EMUs and the services provided. While doing this they act as a liaison between the EEG Technologists, physicians, and other hospital staff. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to direct supervision of the technologists, , heling maintain the EEG Lab Policies & Procedures Manual, and performing and troubleshooting all modalities of the EEG studies. The Chief Technologist is expected to oversee and maintain the quality of EEGs to ensure they are performed according to the EMU policies. The chief EEG Tech for the EMU will also act as didactic instructor for technologists preparing for the ABRET EEG Certification, and all other EEG Techs. He/she is involved in preparing schedules for EEG Tech I, II and III and all incoming students and new staff. The Chief Technologist reports directly to the Asst. Administrator of Neurosciences and the Medical Directors of the EMUs.
Full-time, Day Shift
Work Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, East Baltimore Campus, Baltimore, MD 21287
Education:
Successful completion of High School Diploma or GED, B.S. degree strongly preferred. Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) program or an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required with a minimum of 200 CEUs in the Neurodiagnostic field. Master’s degree or other relevant postgraduate preparation welcome.
Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:
Current R.EEG T certification by ABRET
Eligibility for certification in LTM (CLTM preferred), and a minimum of 5 years in ICU Long Term Monitoring including records acquisition and records review. Must obtain within Twelve (12) months of hire.
Basic Life Support Certification
Work Experience:
At least Five (5) years of clinical EEG Technologist experience (Neonates, Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric) or equivalent experience in a related field is required, if an AMA approved program in EEG Technology was not completed.
At least Five (5) years of clinical EEG Technologist experience in ICU Long Term Monitoring (Neonates, Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric)
At least Two (2) years of proven supervisory/management experience desired.
Solid knowledge of special studies including but not limited to: Brain Death, Wada, Tilt Table, PET Scan with EEG.
Direct management experience preferred.
