EEG/EMU Technologist II

The EEG Technician II provides care to patients with intractable seizure disorder problems, monitors and reports seizures, operates epilepsy monitoring and computer equipment, and performs special treatments associated with the care of acutely ill patients with seizures.
Responsibilities- Provides comprehensive care to patients with intractable seizure disorder problems
- Monitors and reports seizures, including electrographic seizures and interictal seizure discharges
- Operates epilepsy monitoring and computer equipment, including setting up and maintaining surface or implanted electrodes
- Performs special treatments associated with the care of acutely ill patients with seizures
- Requires a comprehensive understanding of all procedures conducted in the Neurophysiology division, including electrocorticography and operative implants
- Requires ability to operate computer and video equipment, and to set-up and maintain surface or implanted electrodes
- Ability to perform testing independent of direct supervision and maintain a high degree of credibility through accurate analysis and interpretation of test results
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) program or an Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university strongly preferred
- Certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic & Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET), or its equivalent
- A minimum of two years of work experience as an EEG Technician or equivalent experience in a related field if an AMA approved program in EEG Technology was not completed
- BLS certification
