ABOUT THE ROLE

Your day may start with someone from the content team asking you if we can dress up a dog like Pac Man for a photo shoot. You’ll then move on to a meeting with the sales team to discuss your comments on the vendor agreement with a new nation-wide retailer. You’ll attend a lunch meeting where someone will give a presentation on their favorite sourdough recipes. The afternoon will consist of a few negotiations with sports leagues about licensing their IP for inclusion in the 2025 sunglasses launch.

Ok. Maybe all that won’t happen in one day, but you get an idea for the variety of ground you’ll cover on a day-to-day basis. You will be asked to do just about everything within all parts of the goodr organization.

That said, for juxtaposition, here are a few things that will not be part of your role:

  • A sisyphean treadmill of billable hour requirements
  • Getting calls at 3pm on a Sunday asking if you wouldn’t mind coming into the office to finish off that memo so we can file it at 7am on Monday
  • Constant references to the Bluebook
  • Visits from Westlaw reps
  • Clients

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide legal counsel to our teams and leaders on any possible legal issues, including privacy, regulatory, and employment matters.
  • Work collaboratively with our In-House Counsel to properly triage and complete legal requests.
  • Help to organize and develop all internal legal processes, including creating policies, refining best practices, developing forms, templates and materials, and providing internal training sessions.
  • Support all departments by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with external partners, customers, and vendors.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Research on corporate transactions.
  • Identify needs to implement and improve goodr’s policies and procedures to manage legal and business risk.
  • Coordinate and work with external legal counsel on a variety of matters.
  • This role is in the People department and will report directly to the Chief People Officer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Juris Doctorate Degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate law or counseling companies.
  • Naturally curious with a high-level legal expertise.
  • Compliance expertise is a MUST.
  • Bonus points for data privacy experience.
  • Knowledge and love of consumer goods and e-commerce business.
  • Has a growth mindset.
  • Is proactive and an independent problem solver.
