Technology Lead – High Frequency Trading (HFT)


Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to take on the role of Technology Lead in their high-performing High Frequency Trading (HFT) team in Austin, Texas. As a globally recognised leader in trading and technology, our client is focusing on the research, execution, and optimisation of advanced, low-latency trading systems to ensure rapid execution and sustained growth. You will be responsible for leading large-scale, high-impact projects, leveraging low-level programming expertise to build and maintain ultra-fast, high-performance trading infrastructure. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a drive for technological innovation are key.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and optimise high-performance, low-latency trading systems using C++ and/or Python.
  • Lead and manage large-scale research and development projects, delivering tailored applications that meet the dynamic needs of high-frequency trading operations.
  • Collaborate with Quantitative Researchers to deploy cutting-edge models that enhance trade execution algorithms.
  • Work closely with traders and research teams to develop and refine applications that support trading strategies in high-speed environments.


Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a software engineer within the trading/technology industry, with a focus on low-latency systems and expertise in C++ and/or Python.
  • Proven track record in leading low-level programming projects that directly support business operations in fast-paced trading environments.
  • Strong skills in building, optimising, and maintaining high-performance, real-time trading systems.
  • Deep understanding of the technical needs of Quantitative Researchers, with the ability to translate them into scalable, efficient solutions.
  • Keen interest in emerging technologies, such as machine learning and hardware acceleration, with practical applications in high-frequency trading systems.
  • A solid academic background in a STEM discipline from a leading university.
