ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Structural Welding Foreman is responsible for leading the welding team. The Welding Foreman will direct the planning of the design, lay out, and fabrication of metal framework for Heavy/Structural construction, with a primary focus on welding pile on bridge construction sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise welding activities, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating workflow, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Lead and set expectations of daily tasks for welding team on each specific project or jobsite.
  • Interpret and implement project plans, blueprints, and schematics, Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Monitor project progress and quality control
  • Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
  • Lay out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding [WELDER, TACK (welding)].
  • Set up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment [WELDER, COMBINATION (welding)].
  • May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
  • May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools, and be designated Welder, Structural Repair (welding).
  • May specialize in using one welding process and be designated Welder-Fitter, Arc (welding); Welder-Fitter, Gas (welding).
  • May specialize in fitting and welding components of metal tools, dies, and fixtures and be designated Welder, Tool And Die (welding).
  • Report incidents immediately in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company.
  • Perform other tasks essential to the project as the situation dictates.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good work ethic
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to foster a positive work environment and lead by example.
  • Proficiency in training new staff and ensuring daily quality assurance.
  • Strong background in MIG, TIG, Structural, & Stick welding techniques.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • All around knowledge of materials, terms and practices in construction field

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years related structural, or construction/pile welding experience required
  • 3-5 years managing 4+ welders required
  • AWS D 1.1 & AWS D 1.4 & AWS D 1.5 3G and 4G certifications preferred
  • Valid Driver's License is required

WORK ENVIRONMENT* This position is both outdoors and indoors.* This work environment may involve minimal to moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.* Exposure to moving mechanical parts.* Noise levels in the outdoor work environment is usually loud.* Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.
