The Welding Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing the welding crew, ensuring the successful execution of metal framework assembly for heavy construction projects, particularly in bridge construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee welding operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, coordinating workflow, and upholding quality benchmarks.
  • Guide and establish daily objectives for the welding team on various projects.
  • Interpret and apply project specifications, blueprints, and schematics; accurately measure and plan layouts and procedures.
  • Monitor project advancement and enforce quality control measures.
  • Select appropriate equipment and strategize layout, assembly, and welding processes, utilizing knowledge of geometry and metal properties.
  • Position, align, and fit components together, securing them for welding through bolting, clamping, and tack-welding.
  • Set up welding equipment and execute welding tasks using various techniques, including arc and gas welding.
  • Assemble components through bolting and riveting as necessary.
  • Repair and maintain products by disassembling, reshaping, and reassembling parts using appropriate tools.
  • Report incidents promptly in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks essential to project success as required.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Capacity to foster a positive work atmosphere and lead by example.
  • Experience in training new personnel and ensuring quality assurance.
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, structural, and stick welding techniques.

  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, terminology, and practices.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in structural or construction welding.
  • Three to five years of experience managing a team of four or more welders.
  • Preferred certifications: AWS D 1.1, AWS D 1.4, and AWS D 1.5 in 3G and 4G welding.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Work Environment:

This role involves both indoor and outdoor work settings, with potential exposure to various environmental factors, including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and noise. Personal protective equipment, such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and safety boots, is required.

Physical Demands:
