We have been retained by a leading residential and commercial lighting and electrical services company to assist in their search for an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to join their growing finance team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for elevating their financial reporting to comply with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensuring the integrity of the company’s financial statements. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the monthly close process, lead key technical accounting projects, and play a vital role in the company’s upcoming ERP implementation. This is a hybrid work/remote work environment. Responsibilities for the Accounting Manager GAAP Compliance & Reporting Ownership: Own the preparation and issuance of all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows) in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Close Management: Lead and execute the full month-end and year-end close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Technical Accounting Research: Research, document, and implement accounting conclusions for complex or non-routine transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, new leases, or inventory valuation changes). Reconciliations and Controls: Oversee and perform detailed reconciliations of all critical balance sheet accounts. Ensure the continuous improvement and effective operation of internal controls over financial reporting. Policy and Documentation: Develop, formalize, and maintain comprehensive accounting policies and desk procedures for the entire accounting function, including new closing checklist. Audit Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact and lead coordinator for the annual financial statement audit. Be responsible for preparing all required audit schedules and managing communications with external auditors. ERP Implementation Lead: Actively participate as the accounting subject matter expert in the current Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation, focusing on GL structure, reporting logic, and user acceptance testing. Team Oversight: Provide guidance and supervision to the Accounting & Payroll Specialist, reviewing/preparing complex journal entries and ensuring transactions are properly recorded and classified. GL Integrity: Manage the General Ledger (GL) to ensure proper segregation of accounts, accurate coding, and overall data quality for internal and external use. Requirements for the Accounting Manager Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant time spent managing or leading a monthly full close process. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is strongly preferred. Experience in public accounting (Audit) is highly valued. Deep, applied knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research and document complex technical accounting issues. Experience in multi-entity consolidation and/or acquisitions is a plus. Strong proficiency in Excel; hands‑on experience with an ERP implementation or major system upgrade is a plus.
