We are currently looking to fill the position of Foreman for our construction company concentrating in concrete building and repaving. The Foreman will be responsible for supervising and coordinating a crew of 6 to 8 workers to perform daily activities on roadway, highway, and heavy construction projects. This position will require traveling depending on the location of the scheduled project. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas with the majority of work occurring throughout Texas, we also perform work through out cities in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida and Mississippi. Founded in 1985, by William E. Gibson, Gibson & Associates, Inc. began it's story in the growing town of Balch Springs, Texas. With paving and bridge rehabilitation projects being its primary focus. The company has seen and undertaken many exciting and intricate projects involving bridges, highways, and heavy construction. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Organizes and plans work activities with Superintendent to develop the most appropriate sequence and discusses the best means and methods for assigned project.
  • Manages a crew of six or more skilled and common laborers.
  • Directly supervises and coordinates daily operations on assigned project to ensure that proper resources (labor, equipment, material) are in place for the timely completion of work.
  • Promotes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Reviews all contracts, specifications, plans, and project documents to ensure that the work is built to the appropriate standards and to satisfaction of the Owner.
  • Takes responsibility for crew's performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Takes corrective and/or disciplinary actions to address deficiencies and policy violations.
  • Monitors quality of work being performed on a daily basis.
  • Assists with job site orientation and mentors new workers.
  • Coordinates equipment needs, ensures operators are qualified, and communicates maintenance issues with mechanics in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a dedication to safety at all times by routinely holding safety meetings, enforcing safe work practices, and seeing that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.
  • Conducts meetings with the crew to discuss production goals, performance feedback, safety requirements, and job site related hazards.
  • Prepares time sheets for labor and equipment, as well as maintains detailed records of work performed with the appropriate quantities daily.
  • Prepares accident and/or injury reports for any job site incident and ensures that all appropriate paperwork is submitted to the home office in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related administrative tasks and duties as assigned by Superintendent and/or Operations Manager.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Foreman in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with equipment, materials, and methods used in the construction industry.
  • Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively
  • Ability to read and understand project specific documents including construction plans, specifications, material data sheets, safety data sheets, and other pertinent project information.
  • Ability to keep organized records and to prepare work and time reports.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within established timelines.
  • Must be knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices.
  • Must be accustomed to working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that may require climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Must wear appropriate safety equipment as required by the company.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work out of town on various jobsites.
  • Must either hold a valid government issued commercial driver's license or a standard driver's license but be willing to get a commercial license.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and E-verify.
