Job Summary

Gibson & Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Foreman to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating a crew of 6 to 8 workers to perform daily activities on roadway, highway, and heavy construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and plan work activities with the Superintendent to develop the most appropriate sequence and discuss the best means and methods for assigned projects.
  • Manage a crew of skilled and common laborers, ensuring that proper resources (labor, equipment, material) are in place for the timely completion of work.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate daily operations on assigned projects, promoting and complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Review all contracts, specifications, plans, and project documents to ensure that the work is built to the appropriate standards and to satisfaction of the Owner.
  • Take responsibility for the crew's performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Take corrective and/or disciplinary actions to address deficiencies and policy violations.
  • Monitor the quality of work being performed on a daily basis.
  • Assist with job site orientation and mentor new workers.
  • Coordinate equipment needs, ensure operators are qualified, and communicate maintenance issues with mechanics in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a dedication to safety at all times by routinely holding safety meetings, enforcing safe work practices, and seeing that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.
  • Conduct meetings with the crew to discuss production goals, performance feedback, safety requirements, and job site-related hazards.
  • Prepare time sheets for labor and equipment, as well as maintain detailed records of work performed with the appropriate quantities daily.
  • Prepare accident and/or injury reports for any job site incident and ensure that all appropriate paperwork is submitted to the home office in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Foreman in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with equipment, materials, and methods used in the construction industry.
  • Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand project-specific documents, including construction plans, specifications, material data sheets, safety data sheets, and other pertinent project information.
  • Ability to keep organized records and prepare work and time reports.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within established timelines.
  • Must be knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices.
  • Must be accustomed to working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that may require climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Must wear appropriate safety equipment as required by the company.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work out of town on various job sites.
  • Must either hold a valid government-issued commercial driver's license or a standard driver's license but be willing to get a commercial license.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and E-verify.
