Sr Principal System Administrator, in infrastructure Workplace Services, collaborate with a diverse team to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.

What You Will Do:

  • Providing leadership to support a varied range of administrative tasking, to include corrective/preventive maintenance, recurring operations functions, account management, and system optimization.

  • Participating in Change Request reviews, to include participating in Change Management boards at multiple program levels.

  • Coordinating technical and process document reviews and resolving system administration, engineering, and integration issues

  • Participating and leading technical meetings with team members and other program personnel and representing the organization in functional area matters.

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. 

  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.

  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.

  • Travel required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate. Up to at 10% per year.

  • Full time 100% Onsite position.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically, Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience or 12 years of directly related experience.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience with some but not limited to, the following technologies:  Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, Veeam, MySQL, Oracle SQL. Prior systems administration and networking administration experience, Windows and/or Linux administration, backup, and recovery enterprise suites.

  • Oracle DB experience is a must

  • Experience in the following areas: patch management, High Performance Computing, OS Upgrades, computer security, system monitoring and logging and Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience working with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF and handling classified information.

  • Industry certifications including but not limited to: Security +, CISSP, ITIL, ISC2, PMP etc.

  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification).

  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESXi and/or other virtual computing methods.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
