Garyville, United States Ecolab Inc. Full time

Garyville’s Process Engineering team is a dynamic and collaborative environment responsible for understanding, analyzing, and improving the production units at the Garyville site. The team’s key stakeholders include the production operators they support, the maintenance & reliability group, and the planning group. The Process Engineer role is key in reaching site and organizational goals related to safety, performance, TPM, and customer service.

The Process Engineer is an individual contributor that will be responsible for specific production units on the Garyville site. This means the engineer will learn the chemical processes that take place in the unit, build relationships with the operators that run those processes, and communicate the KPIs and challenges of the unit’s planned production. Once a basic understanding of the unit is in place, the Process Engineer will be responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant workplace, implementing process changes in the unit, and working with appropriate stakeholders (QA, TPM, Maintenance, Capital) to improve unit efficiency and performance.

Each process engineer is responsible for different units and processes, but it’s necessary to work with other engineers and departments to achieve the best solutions. The ideal candidate is analytical, an effective communicator, and focused on execution.

What You Will Learn:

  • Reaction chemistries, production processes, and plant equipment
  • Process safety in a PSM plant
  • Root cause investigation techniques
  • Leading through influence
  • Process improvement methods
  • TPM Methodology

What You Will Do:

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of production units
  • Complete initiatives to ensure a safe work environment in the production area and maintain updated process safety information files
  • Work closely with unit operators to produce batches, prepare for scheduled maintenance, and make area and efficiency improvements
  • Collaborate with logistics and planning groups to meet customer demand
  • Analyze, investigate, and troubleshoot problems in processes and equipment
  • Document changes in unit by writing MOCs and performing PSSRs
  • Member of a site TPM Pillar team
  • Support capital projects by providing process data, reviewing designs, serving on project teams, participating in hazard analysis, and executing other relevant duties
  • Work with area chemist/pilot plant on new product development/implementation
  • Review and update SOPs to reflect operation changes
  • Interface with the reliability team for outage planning and maintenance work in area

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical field
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with equipment design, process development, and optimization
  • Immigration sponsorship is not offered for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong background leading technically driven projects, and ability to effectively work in cross-functional teams, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience in a PSM (Process Safety Management) environment
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
