The Role

This company is seeking a motivated and skilled Director to lead the execution of various financing structures, including project, portfolio, and corporate transactions, spanning debt, tax equity, cash equity, and M&A.


The Director will engage with multiple facets of the clean energy sector, quickly gaining industry knowledge and connections. In this influential role, the Director will earn competitive pay, mentor junior teammates, and play a pivotal role within one of the nation’s most active solar and storage developers.


This position is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid office and remote work arrangement.


Responsibilities


  • Oversee financial models for project financing, from community solar portfolios to large-scale projects exceeding 300 MW.
  • Act as the commercial lead for negotiations with external financing partners.
  • Build and manage relationships with tax equity, debt, and cash equity financiers, representing the company in industry conferences and high-level transactions.
  • Collaborate with company leaders to shape market entry, power marketing, and financing strategies for the company’s expanding project pipeline.
  • Develop and present materials for key stakeholders, including the Investment Committee, Board of Directors, and external financiers.
  • Oversee project diligence, transaction timelines, and workstreams with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Mentor analysts and associates, providing guidance within the team.
  • Partner closely with Capital Markets & M&A teams to review and implement new financing opportunities and project M&A.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with subject matter experts to navigate complex issues related to tax, accounting, financing, structuring, and legal matters in solar and battery storage transactions.


Desired Qualifications and Experiences


  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of finance experience, with at least 5 years in the renewable energy industry.
  • Demonstrable experience with tax equity structures in the solar sector.
  • Strong skills in credit, financial analysis, quantitative assessment, and modeling.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to defend positions and decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on detail, capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
