Job Summary and QualificationsPosition Summary
Under direct supervision, performs daily cleaning tasks for patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, offices, clinic areas and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Housekeeping Department and in accordance with facility standards and objectives
Job Duties
- Perform all Housekeeping related tasks demonstrating service orientation to patients, visitors, fellow employees, doctors , nurses and other hospital staff.
- Perform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
- Dusts horizontal surfaces
- Empties, wipes and relines wastebaskets
- Damp wipe disinfects all furniture
- Cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms
- Dust mops and damp mops floors
- Spot clean walls and windows
- Polishes metal surfaces
- Replenishes paper and soap supplies
- Strips bed linens to perform discharge cleaning
- Performs discharge cleaning as needed
- Uses a safety ladder to remove and replace cubicle curtains
- Performs precaution room cleaning as needed
- Vacuums carpets, spot cleans as needed
- Transports soiled linen to collection point
- Measure and mix bleach and other cleaning solutions
- Assist in cleaning up of spills as needed
- Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommend repairs as needed
- Observe and report the need for repairs to furniture, building and fixtures
- In case of fire or other internal disaster, assists in evacuating patients
- In case of a community disaster, assists nursing as needed
- Perform all other tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
1-3 Years Experience
Situated in Portsmouth, NH, Portsmouth Regional Hospital is a premier 234-bed acute care facility that offers exceptional healthcare services to the Seacoast region of Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. This hospital is the sole ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center on the Seacoast of New Hampshire, making it an essential resource for the community. It boasts the region's only comprehensive heart and vascular program, along with 24/7 comprehensive neurosurgical and stroke clot retrieval programs for both hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes. Portsmouth Regional Hospital is owned by HCA Healthcare, a respected healthcare provider that runs three hospitals, an ambulatory surgery center, two freestanding emergency rooms, an urgent care center, and 46 physician practices in New Hampshire. HCA Healthcare has 2,600 colleagues and 554 physicians on staff, provides $15.8 million in uncompensated care, and pays $43.8 million in taxes annually. Its other hospitals in New Hampshire include Parkland Medical Center in Derry, Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, and freestanding emergency rooms in Seabrook and Dover. In 2023, a third freestanding emergency room is expected to open in Plaistow.
