Job Description

We are looking for Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs) in the South Denver Area. SLPs cater to students eligible for special education services spanning from Kindergarten to age 21, delivering universal, targeted, and intensive interventions as necessary. Ideal candidates possess a demonstrated understanding of speech and social language development, adept behavior management skills applicable in both general and special education settings, and proficiency in consultation and addressing the developmental needs of school-aged children and adolescents.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and administer evidence-based interventions for students suspected of having speech language impairments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to devise Individual Education Programs (IEPs) that incorporate differentiated, innovative instruction aligned with the Guaranteed Viable Curriculum (GVCs) to foster academic progress, positive social interactions, functional communication, and conducive learning behaviors, thereby facilitating educational inclusivity.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of every treatment/session delivered to students, whether direct or indirect services, documenting information into either the current IEP system and/or current Medicaid system. Document all student services eligible for Medicaid reimbursement if current CCC's with ASHA are held. Complete records of students' progress and development, preparing required reports on students and activities.
  • Perform certain duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems, and supporting certain extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations, participating in department and school meetings, and parent meetings.
  • Responsible for managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on students' performance and development.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Document health-related services in the Designated Medicaid documentation system for the School Medicaid Reimbursement Program.
  • Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • Supervise SLP-A's if current CCC's with ASHA are held.

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Special Service Provider License - School Speech Language Pathologist - Colorado Department of Education
  • Pass a background check before the hiring date
  • Applicants must have professional proficiency in English
