REGISTERED MEDICAL ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY

A Registered Medical Assistant assists Physicians and Nurses to meet the health care needs of patients and performs laboratory services as ordered by a physician or qualified practitioner within the capabilities of the facility

REGISTERED MEDICAL ASSITANT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate or equivalent.
Certified by professional organization in the state.
Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
Acute care experience preferred.
Certified to pass medications

REGISTERED MEDICAL ASSITANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Takes vital signs, height and weight.
Assists with PPDs and EKGs.
Draws blood.
Measures and records intake and output.
Assists with patient treatments such as dressing changes, decubitus ulcer, and tracheostomy care.
Adheres to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures.
Schedules appointments.
Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
Is proficient with CPR and recognizes need to implement. Receive re-certification training annually.
Assists in cleaning, sterilizing and securing of equipment.
Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
Certified by professional organization in the state
Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements
Acute care experience preferred
Gather medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags, and test tubes
Explain blood draw procedures with patients
Verify patient information and labeling blood samples properly
Adheres to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures
