Job Summary:

This role will work 38 hours per week and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. The successful candidate will be responsible for rooming patients, performing and documenting vital signs and patient backgrounds, coordinating provider schedules and appointments, and preparing patient charts. Additionally, they will instruct patients and families as directed within the scope of licensure or certification, prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures, and administer medications/immunizations. The ideal candidate will have current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, a graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing, and knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care.

Responsibilities:

Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
Coordinate provider schedules and appointments, enter orders, and prepare patient charts.
Instruct patients and families as directed within the scope of licensure or certification.
Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures and administer medications/immunizations.
Maintain exam rooms and equipment to be within infection control standards.
Ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room.

Requirements:

Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, or graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
Current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.
Previous experience working as an Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.
Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.
Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Possess skills to effectively solve problems.
Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.
Possess effective written and verbal communication.

Licenses and Certifications:

Certified as a Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant in the state of WI through an approved accreditor.
Valid Practical Nursing license in the state of WI through an approved accreditor.
Licensed EMT or AEMT and maintain this credential throughout employment.
CPS/BLS Certification Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from approved program or Prevea sponsored program.

Working Conditions:

The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with occasional exposure to extreme cold, heat, humidity, wet conditions, noise, and hazards.
The role requires the ability to hear whispers and see colors, near vision, and distance vision.
