Overview:

As an Outbound Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the finished vehicle supply chain across North America. This role involves overseeing the preparation and shipment of cars from plants, ports, and stock compounds to customers. You will be part of a team operating out of a premier client facility in Ridgeville, SC.

 

Title: Outbound Logistics Specialist

Pay Rate: $22hr

Shift: 8 am – 4:30 pm

Location: Ridgeville, SC

Duration: Temporary

 

Key Responsibilities:

Carrier management

    • Drive Carrier performance to ensure timely delivery of finished vehicles. 
    • Use performance data to determine underperformance by carriers on specific lanes.
    • Facilitate business review meetings with carriers.
    • Own carrier improvement plans and drive improvement. 
    • Take an active part in the implementation of new carriers. 
    • Ensure carrier KPIs are met.
    • Ensure rail equipment is secured, loaded, and arrives timely to the destination.
    • Manage ad hoc vehicle shipments.
    • Ability to create and update processes with a focus on automation.

 

Communication with key stakeholders

    • Act as point of contact to sales organizations for delivery issues and questions. 
    • Act as interface and escalation point between carriers, Volvo Cars, and other stakeholders. 
    • Develop and provide volume forecasts to the assigned carrier base. 
    • Escalate non-performing carriers to the purchasing team when needed. 

 

Cost control

    • Manage freight costs, process payments, and address any discrepancies/adjustments. 
    • Audit freight spending to ensure contract compliance and cost control.

 

Qualifications:

    • Operational knowledge of carrier operations, such as experience working for an OEM, shipper, truck, rail company, or freight forwarder. 
    • Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including formulas, V lookup, pivot tables, conditional formatting), PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
    • Comfortable speaking/presenting on the phone and in front of groups.
    • Strong data mining experience. 
    • Comfortable making data-driven decisions and conveying ideas in group settings.
