Job Summary:

The Port Operations Specialist will play a key role in the production of electric vehicles, responsible for monitoring daily progress, driving performance, and ensuring that all port operations meet established KPIs. This position involves coordinating with various stakeholders, utilizing critical thinking to evaluate and improve port operations, and acting as a primary interface between a major automotive company and other key players. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a background in port or logistics operations, and experience with performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Port Performance Management:

  • Actively participate in Port Management meetings to drive performance and ensure KPIs are met.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain all key performance indicators (KPIs) for port operations.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and tools to evaluate ports and identify opportunities for improvement.

Operational Oversight:

  • Monitor daily operations at multiple ports, ensuring adherence to schedules and standards.
  • Address and resolve deviations from operational plans and drive actions to improve performance.
  • Maintain and update action improvement lists and ensure effective implementation.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as a key interface and point of escalation between the company, OBL, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate and align all activities with internal company stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with OBL Engineering to balance optimization of transport, cost, and tied-up capital.
  • Work with Internal Quality teams to ensure best practices are followed and ports operate effectively.

Process Improvement:

  • Drive cross-functional investigations and analysis to improve processes and operations.
  • Innovate creative solutions to meet challenges and achieve operational goals.
  • Develop and update processes, tools, and models for continuous improvement.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare detailed reports on port activities, including cargo movements, vessel schedules, and operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all operational activities, including incident reports and equipment usage.

Backup and Support:

  • Provide backup and support for other roles in the Outbound team as needed.
  • Represent OBL as a key member in related projects and ensure alignment with overall objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or relevant experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, or a similar role, with a strong understanding of outbound logistics for finished vehicle distribution.


Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of carrier operations within finished vehicle distribution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a focus on performance management and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
